JUST DESSERT

Yap, finally I tried to cook dessert! It’s not easy to cook dessert because I don’t like sweet food with many sugar. I prefer salted food than sweet food so my tongue is not so familiar for tasting sweet food. I never cooked by measuring pot. It was my speciality to cook with feeling. I think that because I’m good at cooking snack and main menu, I don’t need to worry to cook sweet desert or appetizer. I just need to trying and trying. While I watched Masterchef USA, I always saw many contestant cooked Pannacotta. It’s like a jelly but it’s made from heavy cream and gelatin. Since it’s hard to find gelatin in Indonesia, I change with Plain Nutrijel that made from konyaku and red seaweed. I also made strawberry puree for topping.

I never had baking because I don’t have oven. Actually my mom bought me an oven but the electrical power is exceed to our electricity power so we would ever used it. I start baking by making a pancake. I learn about the measurement pot by making this and I think this is a good step before having more baking. Yap, I served the pancake with the strawberry puree again.

My favorite sweet desert all of time is First Love cake. First Love is a brand, actually it’s mille creepe cake or layerred cake. I also tried to cook it because it didn’t need oven to cook it. The filling is nutella and cream and served with Oreo, strawberry puree, and cream :9

HOMEMADE BIBIMBAP & DIMSUM

Frankly, it’s ain’t easy to find korean food restaurant in Jakarta, even finding the one that serve delivery service. I love vegie but I’m not vegan, so Bibimbap is one of my favorite meals because it gives balance nutrition and mostly from vegie. Bibimbap in Indonesia is like Lengko. Bibimbap is served with vegie like carrot, cucumber, mushroom, kimchi, and spinach with gochujang sauce and meat, while Lengko is served with vegie like cabbage, bean sprout, cucumber, and tofu with peanut sauce and crispy snacks. I’ve already made Lengko with my grandma. Then, making Bibimbap is just about being creative because the ingredients are hard to find in Indonesia so I made gluten free goochujang sauce in my own. Just need coconut oil, garlic, ginger, onion, fresh tomatoes, spicy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, and surely paprika powder. The keys of gochujang sauce are ginger and paprika powder. I process the vegies by boiling it and the quickly fried in coconut oil, say sauce, and sesame seeds. Here is the presentation of my homemade bibimbap.

Then, I also made my own dimsum/ siomay. I just know that the secret key of chewy dimsum is a squash (in Indonesia means labu siam). I use fresh grilled chicken, prawn, and mackerel with ratio chicken:prawn:mackerel is 2:1:1. Then I added starch, a little flour, grated squash and carrot, grilled mushroom, fish oil, sesame oil, chicken brooth, spring onion, salt, pepper, and soy sauce. Mix the dough well and leave for some minutes. I cast the dough to little container and also slip into tofu then boiled it.

At last, I also made my own excess-boiled eggs. In Indonesia, it’s called “telur pindang.” It have sweet or salty taste, depend on your desire how to cook it. If you want the sweet one, you must add more soy sauce in. Just prepare the boiled eggs then peel the skin. Excess-boiled eggs mean we cook it again in some hours till the eggs absorp the flavored-water and the taste will move to the eggs. The boiled water must be added with bay leaves, lemon grass, tea, salt, brown sugar, ginger root, ginger, and soy suce. You also can add five-spices or cinnamon to make it sweet. After the water is run out after cooking, just leave the eggs in some hours so that the colour inside will more darker.

Crunchy Onion Ring

This is my first recipe that I can share with you in cooking the Onion Ring. I really addicted to the Onion Ring from Burger King. But, because it is expensive enough and it’s not available in my hometown, I made it myself haha. Actually, Burger King doesn’t use the whole slice of onion as the filled-in because they mix it with powder and use device to form the ring. But, I just use the whole ring as the filled-in because I have no equipment to make that. This is the step to make a simple onion ring:

  1. Slice the onion till formed a ring
  2. Prepare 3 bowls to place: Shake Egg, Seasoning flour (like Mamasuka, Sasa, Sajiku, etc) depends on your favorite, and Bread flour
  3. Dip the onion ring slice to the shake egg, then remove
  4. Put inside the seasoning flour, and then dip again to the shake egg. Do this step twice
  5. Put inside the bread floor
  6. Fried the onion ring till cooked
