I learnt about mastering powerpoint in Interpersonal Skills class in 7th term by Mr. Akhmad Hidayatno. We learnt about how to dressed up especially for men in workplace. It's not just about that, we also learnt about presenting ourselves in front of people, expressing ourselves in pantomim, and the most important is preparing the presentation. Preparing the presentation is not just about preparing the powerpoint slide itself, We also need to prepare our presentation material, make the outline for presentation, know about the place, time, audience, and many more. Powerpoint material is not about what you know, but what audiences want to know. Treat your audiences as a King. A good presentation is not just about explaining but also educating and entertaining (telling a story). I just want to share about how to make a better presentation slides especially in powerpoint so our point will be more understood by audience and more interesting. Frankly, the knowledge about how to make powerpoint that sell was just really beneficial for me. I used powerpoint as my graphic design software beside Coreldraw and Photoshop because powerpoint is more easy, quick, and user friendly.

# Prepare Your Material for Presentation
It's really important to summarize what you'll present in front of audience. Summarize your point of journal/ book for the material. You also need to print that summary as cheat sheet/ handout while you're presenting your powerpoint maybe you feel distract by your own nervous and then forget what you're going to present but if you print out you material as a cheat sheet so it woulf be really beneficial.

# Make an Outline for the Presentation in a Sheet of Paper
Before you're going far to create your slide, make your outline based on your point of journal/ book for the material. Remember, you'll not write all your material in the slides, just the point so that the audience will more focus on you, not on your slides or your copy of handout slides that is given to audience.

# Design Your Own Background Template
In general, there are two types of presentation, report presentation and ideas presentation. For profesional use, the powerpoint that sells always used your own background design than using the presentation template provided by microsoft. I created my own backgroung by INSERT - Shape. It's really easy to use and the most important drawing tools to cretaes your own background template and you'll really need transparency by right-click the picture/ shape and choose FORMAT SHAPE  then set the transparency. Just express your creativity! Practice design, not decoration.

# Rules For Designing Presentation Slides
  • Don't use too much animation effect that makes your presentation looks riddiculous, unless you need it to explain something important like simulation or anything. Using standard animation effect will be allowed if you want to go to another slides or if we want to show the point one by one. Another consideration is using general font type like Arial or Times New Roman to make sure that the font type will work on other PC that maybe used for presentation.
  • Use horizontal view if we want to show the point one by one from left to side, not from top to bottom. And you must remember that the point is not too long that can waste your slides, just write the important words.

  • Don't write too much words or sentences because it makes the audiences will focus on it, the audiences will not focus with what you deliver in the presentation. So, just write the important point or maybe use some picture to describe it or just for making attractive slides.
  • Designing your slides theme must depend on who is your audience, what is your topic, and where you'll present (outdoor/indoor). You must chose the colour, theme, and anything about design based on those 3 points (who, what, and where). The outdoor presentation need bold background because the lighting will be more contrast and the indoor presentation can be using bold or soft background depend on your topic of presentation and audience.
  • Choose and create your favorite design. It will be your signature maybe haha. If you work in specific company, they often use their general presentation template. I search many powerpoint template from googling and choose the favorite one that is good and easy to creates in powerpoint by myself. Yap, you just need to design 2 different pages of powerpoint template/ background: for title page and the rest is for your main page of presentation.

# Harmonize Your Powerpoint Background/ Colour with Your Dress.
Sometimes, you need to match our dress with our powerpoint background because we often present the slides in our side. If we have a contrast look between the slides and the dress, it would be a disaster.  Here are some of my powerpoint background created by myself for some topic and occasion:

# Final Preparation
There are 3 main components in presentation: You, Your Materials, and Delivering. Beside making presentation slides, don't forget to prepare presentation print out for the audiences maybe it's needed. Delivering is about your voice, your look, and your gesture. Here are the points you should notice:
- You are what you wear! Don't wear anything distract
- Practice yourself in a mirror to learn about impression and hand gesture
- Don't forget to keep your hands out of the pocket because it shows dishonesty
- Develop "Standard Pose"
- Speaking confidently doesn't mean look arrogant
- Knowing the venue
- Seating the audiences
- Dealing with logistics
- Travel requirements
